Real life. Real choices. Real accountability. Honest guidance.

Life doesn’t have to be perfect to add up.

Growing up is not one big moment when everything suddenly makes sense.

It happens through small choices, difficult conversations, mistakes, relationships, consequences, setbacks, lessons, and wins you may not recognize until later.

Every piece can teach you something. Every next step gives you another chance to build a life that feels more honest, healthy, balanced, and yours.

A practical way forward

How Making Life Add Up helps

You do not have to solve your whole life today.

When something feels confusing, overwhelming, or more complicated than it should be, start with three steps.

Who It’s For

Making Life Add Up is built for teens and young adults working through the everyday things no one fully explains—relationships, identity, school, work, money, and the choices in between. Parents, caregivers, and other adults looking for the same kind of practical, non-judgmental guidance are welcome here too.

Start with what is happening right now

Real-life guidance for the things people expect you to know.

Choose the area that feels most relevant today. You can come back for the rest when you need it.

Friends, dating, and family

Navigate friendships, dating, trust, communication, conflict, family expectations, and the relationships that can make life meaningful—and complicated.

School, work, and what comes next

Think through choices involving classes, careers, goals, motivation, pressure, and the future without acting like one decision determines your entire life.

Confidence, identity, and purpose

Get clearer about who you are, what matters to you, and how to grow without becoming who everyone else expects you to be.

Money and basic life skills

Learn about budgeting, bills, time, responsibilities, consequences, and the everyday skills that make independence work.

Stress, emotions, and setbacks

Learn practical ways to understand what you are feeling, handle pressure, recover from hard moments, and ask for support when you need it.

Social media, pressure, and boundaries

Protect your peace, manage comparison, think before you post, set healthier boundaries, and make online choices that will not control your life offline.

Learn, reflect, and put it into practice

Useful ideas for everyday life.

Getting Started

Hi, I’m Shanetra

Wooden desk with a laptop, notebook, stack of books, table lamp, and a single flower in a vase

I started Making Life Add Up because so many of the conversations teens, young adults, and the people who support them need most just aren’t happening anywhere else. This space is about practical, real-life guidance—relationships, identity, school, money, boundaries—delivered without judgment. Making Life Add Up is educational coaching, separate from clinical counseling. If you’re looking for therapy or mental health treatment, that’s offered independently through RS&D Counseling & Consulting.
